Korea promises easy permits for exports to Russia

SEOUL, May 5 (PRIME) -- South Korea’s export restrictions against Russia do not bar issuance of permits on exports that will be signed easily, President of the Korean–Russian Business Council Pak Jeong Ho told PRIME Friday.

"Permits by the Korean ministry are just an export control measure rather than an exports prohibition. Military goods are banned fully, but not dual-use goods. This means that if all necessary documents are in place and it is indicated where (the goods) will be used, who is the buyer, then, if exports have civil goals, permits will be provided," the official said.

He admitted that document collecting is lengthy and difficult.

On April 24, South Korea extended the list of goods subject to special permits for exports to Russia to 798 from 57.
